Good morning year 6! My apologies for the lateness of this post today. I’m having to write it all up on my mobile phone at the side of the road whilst out delivering groceries!

This is going to be my final post with tasks for you, and Mrs Gardner will then take over as your class teacher for the rest of the year.

Thankyou all so much for making my first year of teaching such a positive experience and really working hard for me throughout the time we had together.

For English today I’d like you to carry on your Coronavirus diaries. Also could you please research on google ‘natural disasters in Mexico’. I would like you to try and write a diary entry from the perspective of a person in Mexico at the time of a disaster. Write from their perspective and try to consider the year and time period in which it happened. Couple that with your research from last Tuesday on the culture and other factors of Mexico to make it as realistic as possible. Remember to include writing in the first person, emotions, comparative language and how it made that person’s life different. You can add little doodles like we did with the work on The Christmas Truce as this is a diary and can be a little informal.

Maths;
Pick a starter activity from in your green home learning books and test your parents. Once that is complete, I’d like you to access the website for a supermarket of your choice, and research the price of 25 items that you would put in your shopping basket if you could go to the supermarket by yourself! Can you include a Mexican dinner?

Once you’ve got your 25 items, using column addition, add up the total cost. What is it?
What’s the average cost per item?
How much change would you have from £100?
How much change would you have from £50, or have you spent it all?

Have a conversation with your parents about how much they would normally spend on the shopping for your household and compare what you think is a priority compared to them.

Don’t forgot the spelling success snake as well, we need to make sure your spellings are top notch before you head off to CCYD.

I’ll try and edit this post later to jazz it up a little as I’m unsure how to make it look awesome whilst using a mobile device!

Good luck in the future Class 13! You did me proud and I’m sure you’ve all got awesome lives ahead of you! :)
