Year 3/4 - Class 9

Staying happy during home learning.

Bore da dosbarth 9, it's officially the last day of school until September when you enter Year 4 & 5!  You have all worked incredibly hard this year even though it's been a tricky one!  I just want to say how proud I am of you all. Enjoy your well deserved summer holidays, have lots of fun and stay safe.  See you in September!

Here are some ways you can show off your reading superpowers at home.

Like we do in class, when it's time for some calm, light a candle (with a grown ups permission) and start a book. Read this to your grown up or take turns!

The app- Audible have just announced that their children's audio books will be FREE to listen to from now on. So get downloading!

Home Learning Hall of Fame!

Harvey made a rain gauge and measured the rain fall over 24 hours.

Ruby, Jacob O and Harvey wrote acrostic poems using amazing adjectives with a 'Blue Abyss' theme of their choice.

Harvey designed a rainbow and Ruby wrote a letter to the NHS. Spreading smiles.. Jacob O received a reply after writing a letter to the NHS, thanking us all for the appreciation and clapping.

Corey wrote a newspaper article, which made the front page, telling us all about his island.

Jacob O designed a 'Race To Do' Jar, with all the things he'd like to do once lockdown is over, on paper inside.

Ruby designed her own position and direction game with instructions.

Corey and Jac found lots of different angles in their names.

Kayla and Ruby wrote diaries in the role of a child during VE Day.

Jake created a fox using only 2D shapes.

Ethan created a boat and great insect hotel, Alexander designed a jellyfish and Harvey made a sea turtle, all out of natural objects!

Returning to school.

Hello Class 9! I hope for those of you who are returning to school are excited and I cannot wait to see you. When you return you will be in 'Pods', these are small groups that we will carry out all our fun activities with. Our pods won't change. Here is a little story explaining why we are in pods and why it is so important we stay in our pods and keep each other safe and happy.

There are going to be some changes when we return, our school day might not run as we are used to. Some of these changes are;

School starts at 9.00 a.m and finishes at 3.15 p.m.
You will not have to wear your school uniform.
We will eat our lunch in class.
We will all have our own desk.
We don't need to bring pencil cases and will all have our own pot with pens, pencils, rulers, rubbers, etc.
Our classroom will have a lot more space and looks a little different.

Don't panic as we will talk about all these changes on our first day back on our catch up! I have attached some photos and a video of our class so you can have a sneak peek before returning. We have lots of fun activities for you when you return and I'm excited to see you all!

real PE at home – online learning resources
real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 with 12 themes, 6 areas, over 250 activities and challenges and 1000s of hours of fun and activity. This programme is also great for family play and fun.
It also includes a programme for children in Key Stage 2, with daily and weekly guidance provided for both programmes (starting from next week) in addition to an option to choose your own themes and activities.
There are so many benefits to being active, not only to our physical wellbeing but also to our emotional and mental health, especially in such testing times for all of us. We hope that the ideas help support you and your family to stay fit and healthy in the coming months. Here are the details to access real PE at home:

Google Classroom.

Hi everyone,

We are now going to start using Google Classrooms on HWB. Please try and log into our class and leave a comment so that I know you can get on. I have invited everyone by their Hwb usernames but if you have not received this you'll need to join.

Log into your HWB account with your details. Click on the Google Education icon on the menu page. If it asks for you to sign in use your HWB username again and and It might ask you for your class code to join, the code is itd247h . After this you should be all set! I have attached instructions below.

Happy Home Learning.

Class 9 have brought home a home learning 'menu' to keep their brains busy over the next few weeks. I have attached a copy below. Please visit this page regularly as I will post activities, tasks and challenges to be completed in addition to this 'menu'. I hope the children enjoy showing off all their skills and knowledge and you help them by encouraging these activities.

They will also be allocated daily work through their Active Learn and Google Classroom accounts.
