Windy Weather.

Morning Boys, Girls and Parents.
Today I thought it would be good to reuse the number cards that you made the other day and the pegs from your washing line. Don’t worry if you threw them away. You can do this activity using paper and pens or chalk. Depending on your situation this can also be done inside or outside.
You will need: Number cards to 20 (however these may look)/ chalk, pegs, washing line or string
  • Game 1: Peg the numbers 0-5,0-10, 0-20 onto a number line or draw them onto a piece of paper/floor. Please write the numbers large and clear. Tell your child it has been a very windy day and numbers have been blown away. Ask your child to put the numbers in the correct order. For some children you may need to start and model for them so they can copy. Pause and ask what number comes next? You can either peg the numbers to the line or place in a row on the floor.
  • Game 2: As above, tell your child it has been a very windy day and numbers have been blown off. Once the numbers have been put in the correct order tell your child to cover their eyes while you either hide the number or take it off the line. Can they tell you what the missing number is? You can make this game harder by removing more than one number or by making the range of your numbers larger. You can start from any number and the numbers don’t all have to be there. That would only be for the children who have a good understanding of number and number order. E.g. using 6 numbers ( 10, 5, 12, 7, 15, 18) , the correct order therefore is 5,7,10,15,18.  I’ve added onto active learn a number square tool where you can extend the range or decrease the range of numbers. With this tool you can place the spider onto the square to hide the number.
Below I’ve added some YouTube Links.

This link will take you to a free interactive website which Edwards and I use daily. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Search.aspx?q=number%20order

Please scroll through my class page and the other classes. There are so many lovely activities to do with your children. I hope you are all well and are enjoying it being dry. For the boys and girls that use sign to assist their language I will be doing some QR sessions ( watch this space). Please encourage your child to use their signs to communicate with you.  I would be grateful if you could leave me a comment to let me know how you are getting on or if you need any help.
