Using Pegs

Morning boys and girls. Today as its dry outside I thought you could have a go at some pegging activities. I know I will be pegging my clothes on the line today!

This is a great activity that encourages fine motor skills. It can be done inside or outside.

You will need;
Collect a range of clothes pegs of different colour /shapes and strength; bulldog clips, hair clips, freezer bag clips etc. Paper plates/ plastic plates, empty boxes of any size; string or washing line.

Encourage the children to fasten the clips/pegs to hard pieces of card (look in your recycling pile for cereal boxes etc) or paper plates, plastic plates, at the side of a cold radiator, any where, where the peg/clip will stay on safely. We often get the children to peg the clips to the clothes they are wearing, they love it! Ask them to reach around and peg onto their back etc.

Encourage the children to use a range of strength clips, different sizes, hands and fingers.

Model clipping socks ( toy clothes), card or paper onto a string or washing line. This part is tricky for them as the have to as they have to hold the item with one hand and co- ordinate the peg action with the other. They may need help. Enjoy pegging!
