Morning Boys, Girls and Parents,

Today I've added some games with shapes. Pick a game depending on the level of your child. Have fun and remember to model the correct words for the shapes. You can choose to play these games indoors or outdoors. These activities focus on the recognition of the shapes.

Game 1 : Cut out card shapes, use lids from your recycling or use pre-brought shapes and ask your child to name them. You can hide these shapes in rice, sand etc. Can your children find and name the shapes? You can start with four basic shapes e.g. square, circle, triangle, rectangle then increase when this is mastered.

Game 2: Use your local area or around your house to seek out shapes. I was surprised at house many rectangles there was in my living room!

Game 3: You can can use this task to tally how many of each shape they have found. Make this into a tally or bar chart. I have added some examples below.

Game 4; Make a shape picture. You can either stick a shape onto a pre-made picture or let your child'd imagination flow!

Below are some examples which I've taken from Pinterest of similar games and activities. There's so many to choose!

Edwards and I would carry out these activities over a week and we would revisit at a later date. So please re use and repeat. Don't try to get it done in one day!

If your child would like to turn their tally graph into a bar/bock graph. Use  J2E data to create graphs of the shapes they have found. You will find the on the Hwb homepage. Your child will need to login in using their Hwb login and password. Also I've allocated your child maths work on active learn so have a look!

Just for fun I've added some Youtube links to  shape songs.

Please go through this class page and repeat the activities. I have tried to tier the games so they should keep you going for a while. Also the other staff have been working really hard too and have some amazing activities that your child could access. Don't go any higher than Yr 1.

Sometimes I post more than one post a day so you'll need to keep looking and scrolling!

Technical hitch on my side.....While saving this post it has also saved to the 29.3.20 as that's when I started this draft. You have not missed an activity hahaha. The wonders of technology!!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Keep Safe
