Morning Boys, Girls and Parents.

I hope you enjoyed the story of Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRAAQ8EWzig The little boy and the penguin made a boat. They had to use materials that would float on the sea. Today I would like you to do an experiment with some junk material. I would like you to explore materials to find out which are fantastic floaters or super sinkers. I've added a story on  www.activelearnprimary.co.uk, you will need to login and open/ read 'This floats and That Sinks' Please use this book as a discussion tool. I've also added 'float or sink?' This is a predicting interactive sorting game.

You will need:
A range of materials that you think might float or sink.
A bowl of water.

Game 1: Place the objects in the bowl one at a time. Name the object/item. Watch them being fantastic floaters and super sinkers. Have lots of fun!

Game 2: Predict whether the object/item will be a fantastic floater or super sinker. Test them out one at a time. Record you findings.

Try and remember what materials were good at floating as this will be part of tomorrows task. Below I've added a sample of a record sheet.
