This week the children have enjoyed listening to this story, so we thought we'd share it with you so they can listen at home. Below I've added a YouTube link so you can share the story together.
We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did in school.

Hello everyone.

Today we have two new children starting our class. So here's a warm welcome to Iolo and Jacob. We are looking forward to getting to know you.

I hope you enjoyed singing 'The Feelings Song' together. It's got such a catchy tune. This weeks song is about being happy. I wonder if you already know it?
Game 1: Sing along and perform the actions to the song above.

Game 2: Use a mirror to explore facial features and make a happy face. Ask your child what happens to their mouth when they are happy.

Game 3: Make a happy face using paint/crayons/shaving foam.

Game 4: Look through photos or books to find a happy face.

Game 5: Use the sheet attached to talk through things that make your child happy. You could stick or draw pictures of their favourite food, toys or people onto the sheet. Anything that makes your child smile.

We've had a very busy first week back in school.
  • We've been using mirrors to explore our emotions; happy and sad.
  • We've explored our new classroom and outside area.
  • Playing in the hospital role play area.
  • We've used our counting skills to count objects around the classroom and have used Interactive White Board games.
  • We've been practising our welsh phrases, which we are fantastic at!!
  • We've looked at books and stories in our ERIC time, Bug Club and group reading.
  •  We've practised writing our name and lots, lots more.

It's been a fun packed first week. We are going to post photos on here but we need your permission so please make sure your preferences are up to date.

P.E Kits
In Ogmore vale Primary we are using a P.E scheme called real P.E. It's a fun scheme that integrates progressive movements through stories and songs.

Starting this week our P.E day will be on a Tuesday. Please provide your child with a t-shit and elasticated joggers/shorts. We can no longer keep kit in school so please remember to send it to school every week.

School Fruit Trolley
Unfortunately school no longer sells snack in school so please send in a healthy snack option and water bottle.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. If we can't take your call we will try to get back to you that day.

We've had a lovely few days catching up with the children and seeing how much they have grown.

Keep Safe.

Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone.

We hope you all had a lovely summer break. This terms our topic is 'How Are You Today?' with the main focus being well being and exploring emotions. For some young children reading and expressing how they feel or how someone else is feeling doesn't come naturally.

Below I've added some songs about how we are feeling as an introduction to exploring emotions.
Below I've added some games for you to play.

Game 1: Use a mirror to explore facial features and make silly faces, moving eyebrows and mouth.

Game 2; Paint or draw a mouth onto a pre-drawn face and ask 'how do you feel today?'

Game 3: Use Mr Potato Head or Mr Pop to make a face.

Game 4:  Cut and stick Mr Potato Head
