Morning Boys, Girls and Parents,

To finish the story of 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' I would like you to map your journey. You can use the story or a journey that you have taken with your family. Below I've added some examples.
How about building a den for the bears cave. Use blankets, tables and chairs. Below I've added a lovely YouTube clip.
Next week is half term so I'll return here on June 1st. If you're not taking a break from learning please browse back through our class page as there are so many activities to choose from. Alternately there are a range of tailored activities for your child on the Google classroom and Active learn. I'll still be checking my emails everyday so please contact me if you need anything.

Keep safe and have a wonderful week off.

Sensory and Messy Play

Morning Boys, Girls and Parents.

The sun has come back so it's a great time for some sensory and messy play! This will link in with the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. I've added an example below. I want you to think about what can use you have around the house, they don't have to be the same to recreate the story.
If you don't fancy getting messy, how about creating a obstacle course, getting your children to walk along wiggly lines, go under tables, through tunnels and over something that's safe (can't think of anything right now but hopefully you get my thoughts) haha Below I've added some examples.

I hope you are enjoying this topic and all of the activities. Please post your work in the Google classroom in the folder 'Are We There Yet?' As always Edwards and I would love to see photos and video clips.

Keep safe and enjoy the sun. Remember  to be sun smart.

Morning Boys, Girls and Parents,

I hope you have all enjoyed the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Today I would like you to get creative and find sounds that you can match for the different parts of the journey and actions. I call this a sound story. It's lots of fun! Here are some suggestions of what you could use for the different sounds;
  • For the grass "swishy swashy": run a broom/ dust pan brush along the floor.
  • For the river "splash splosh": shake water in a water bottles.
  • For the mud "squelch squerch": shake jelly in a  the container.
  • For the forest "stumble trip": bang a pan with a spoon.
  • For the snowstorm "hoooo woooo!": blow into the top of an empty bottle.
  • For the cave "tiptoe tiptoe": bang the pan softly with a spoon.

These are just suggests see what sounds you can create. Now play or read the story and accompany with the noises that you have made.

I hope you are all having lots of fun with the activities that I'm setting for you. Remember there's a lot more in the Google classroom and on Active learn. If you have any questions contact me on poveyj16@hwbcymru.net.

Have a wonderful day.

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Morning Boys, Girls and Parents.

I hope you all had a safe weekend and that you and your families are well. Part of our topic is thinking about journeys. This weeks activities are going to be linked to the story ' We're Going On a Bear Hunt' where a family,  just like many of yours goes for a walk. Please watch the story below and then choose a game/activity that you feel your child will enjoy.
Game 1: Join in with the sounds and make actions for the different parts of the journey.

Game 2: Paint or draw a picture of yourself and your family. Look at family photos and name members of your family and friends.  Look at photos of you taking a family outing.

Game 3: Can you remember the order of the journey? Where did they go first? Parents help your children by using positional and mathematical language e.g. first, next, second, last etc.

Game 4 : Create you own journey/adventure by going out for a walk and exploring new and safe places. Take photos of the places you pass. When you come home browse through the photos and use them as a discussion starter .e.g. 'The road was very noisy, we heard lots of traffic' or 'when we walked over the bridge I could hear a tap,tap of our shoes'. As above discuss the order of your journey.

Morning Boys, Girls and Parents,

In this weeks story 'We all Go Traveling By' the little girl rides a pink bike. Today I would like you to get physical and pretend to ride that bike. A while ago I posted a link to our PE scheme. It really is fun. real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 with 12 themes, 6 areas, over 250 activities and challenges and 1000s of hours of fun and activity. This programme is also great for family play and fun.
Here are the details to access real PE at home:

The website address is: home.jasmineactive.com
Parent email: parent@ogmorevale-1.com
Password: ogmorevale

Once you have opened the website I would like you to click the tab in the middle of the page to Early Years/ Key Stage 1. Then continue to scroll down to Day 19 which will take you to the Bike adventure. Here you will find a story, activities that are linked to skills and a song. Give it a go! The children in our class love the actions and song. Edwards and I would to see in action so please post your videos to me in the google classroom in the folder 'Are we there yet?.

I hope you all have lots of fun today.

Morning Boys, Girls and Parents.

Did you all have fun making a junk model aeroplane yesterday? Today's task is much easier and won't involve any mess! Thank you Mr Whaley and Mrs Hobbs as I've taken this from your page.

Have a go at making a paper aeroplane today - you may need some help with the folds. Ask everyone in your family to make one too. Decorate them, then have a competition. Who's plane can fly the furthest? Good luck! ✈️

Make a junk model aeroplane.

Morning Boys, Girls and Parents,

I hope you all enjoyed yesterdays story 'We all go Travelling By'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSw50Jw0H34 What vehicles did you spot? Could you name them all?

This terms topic is looking at journeys and different ways of travelling. Today lets get creative!! I want you to use some recycling to make a junk model aeroplane.
Step1: Design an aeroplane that can be made from junk materials that you will hopefully have at home. Draw a picture of what you want your model to look like and write a list of what materials you will need.

Step 2: Gather the materials that you will need and make your junk-model aeroplane.

Step 3: Now that you've built your model and its dry, decorate it, to make it look as pretty as possible!

I'd love it if you can upload photos onto Hwb in the folder 'Are we there yet?'.
Below I've added some images to give you an idea of things you could use.
