Rainy Day Fun
Get your wellies and raincoats on again and have a go at making some rain art.
Draw a rainbow on paper with some washable markers then put it out in the rain to watch what happens. You could also chalk on the floor and watch how the rain changes the art and how the colours mix.
You could also put some measuring containers outside to catch the rain. After an hour or so you could see how much rain you collected.
Have fun!

I'm going to be posting on the school website some fun family orientated activities and the Literacy and Numeracy activities can be found on our online classroom.
If you haven't yet joined the online classroom please email me for your login and password.

Dancing in puddles!
Today I'd like you all to put on your wellies, rain suits or coats and go looking for puddles! You might have puddles in the garden or on your daily walk. You could sing a song whilst jumping or dance like in my video!
Remember to post any pictures or videos on the google classroom!

Take a look at the 'Wellbeing' section of the school website. There are some super 'thrive' activities on there you could do together.

Well done all you special police officers! You helped Chase find his missing police badge that Mayor Humdinger had hid! The special posters that you made really helped! Chase says a big thank you.
Picture
Literacy
To develop oral blending and segmenting skills
Chase is back on the case today! He needs your help though as Mayor Humdinger's naughty kittens have cast a spell on him and he can only speak like a robot!  He needs your help to find his favourite toys that the Mayor has hidden around the house. Inform your child that Chase has lost his e.g c/u/p, p/i/g, c/a/t, b/a/g and h/a/t (choose simple CVC words -consonant vowel consonant) and say each sound in the word separately like a robot. Ask your child to then hunt for these items and return to Chase who can then talk normally again.

Further information on this skill can be found on http://www.letters-and-sounds.com/phase-1.html. There are also games on this link that the children can play.

Numeracy
Move in given directions
Chase is in police academy today training and he needs to be put through his paces. Give your child instructions to follow as if in training e.g. march forward, turn towards the door, skip forwards, turn towards the window and STOP!

Enjoy and stay safe!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the lovely weather. I'm making calls this morning to families I haven't spoken to yet. Hopefully I can get to speak to you all today.
Following on with our mini topic - 'People who help us' we are going to look at the role of the police today. So get 'Chase' ready!

Picture
Literacy
To begin to recognise the alphabetic nature of wiring and understand that written symbols have meaning.
Chase has come to visit today to talk about the job that police do. Talk about the some of the things that police do. He's also come to tell you that Mayor Humdinger has stolen his police badge! He needs your help to find his badge. Can you make a 'Wanted' picture for the Mayor or a 'Lost' poster for the Police badge. Have a go at some writing on the poster e.g. Wanted! Phone (*child's name) if you see him/find it.

Numeracy
Count a selection of items to 5
One of the jobs that the police do is take finger prints. Can you make some finger prints of your own using paint/ink and then number them. How many can you do?

Wow! This week is flying by! It's lovely to see all your lovely hard work on Google Classroom! I've had a chance to speak to some of you on the phone this week and I'll be phoning around again today and the beginning of next week to see how you're all doing.

Literacy
To link objects with letter sounds
n is for nurse
Today I'd like to recap on the letter sounds that we learnt before we had to close - s a t p i and n. Your child could make a collection of objects for each letter sound and could even have a go at writing the sound. You can also help them identify initial sounds when they are playing- s is for sand, a is apple, p is for paint.

Numeracy
To read and write numbers to 5
Today I'd like you to have a go at writing numbers. You can just have a go at number 1 if you like or you can go up to 10! Remember to use the number cards with the rhymes on to help you. You can do this with pencils and crayons or with paint, with chalk, in the sand, in the mud, in gloop or in shaving foam. The messier the better!

Wow! It's lovely to see your work on Google Classroom! If you're not yet logged into Google classroom you can email me at Jonesf810@hwbcymru.net for your login details.

Today I'd like my little doctors and nurses to do some reading.
Skill - Use pictures to tell a story.
Please visit www.oxfordowl.co.uk . This site is currently offering free login for parents. If you click on books, then eBook library, you can browse the online ebooks that the site has. If you then click on books for ages 3-4 years you will see some picture books based on the reading books we have in school - The Oxford Reading Tree. Spend some time going through the books on here. These are the same picture books that we use in school. The teaching points you need to consider are - reading the story from the left page to the right page, spend time encouraging your child to talk about the pictures, what do they see? why? how? what do you think will happen next? were they right? Ask your child to retell the story to you at the end. What happened at the beginning? What happened at the end?

Maths
Skill - Use mark making to begin to record collections
The little doctors and nurses are going to have to record the number of patients in their waiting room today! How many patients do they have? Ask your child to make a mark on paper to symbolise how many patients they have waiting. This could be like a tally chart. After they have ticked off everyone waiting they can count how many marks they have!

Enjoy your learning and hopefully I will speak to you all in the next few days.

Hi everyone. Just to make you aware, I will be making phone calls to everyone in Nursery class this week. This is a quick 5 minute call to touch base with you and your child. Your child might want to tell me what they have been up to over the few weeks and have a quick chat. I'm looking forward to it!

I am so pleased to see so many of you on the google classroom. I have loved looking at all the pictures today! I've been told that if you are logged into hwb correctly then you should see our classroom and there is no need for codes. You can double check if you are logged on correctly by clicking on Home and then on pupil links  and checking who you are logged on as. Sometimes if you have more than one google account it can flit back to a different account. If you have any trouble please email me and I'll ask the IT team.
Maths-
Recite numbers from 0 -10 forwards and backwards using songs and rhymes
Today I'd like you to play doctors and nurses and help your teddies or dollies feel better. Gather 10 of teddies and sit them a circle. Carefully count the 10 teddies together. If you have some plasters I'd like you to help your child to count out 10. Your child can give one plaster to each teddy. As your child gives out the plasters count the amount remaining. Develop mathematical language such as how many? less, more,  zero. Sing the song Miss Molly had a dolly as you go along. If you don't have any plasters then maybe you could make some bandages using strips of paper or ribbon etc or even give them a biscuit each. If your child would like to they can write the numbers 1 to 10 on a pieces of paper and number the teddies too.

Literacy -

Ask your child to make a get well card for their teddy. They can decorate the front of the card and on the inside I'd like them to do some 'have- a- go' writing. The aim is that the child attributes meaning to marks (e.g. To teddy, get well soon, love xx) It doesn't matter if they do squiggles or other emergent writing marks. The aim is that they realise that writing has a purpose and it can take many forms - in this case - a card.

Have fun and I look forward to seeing more pictures!
