Good morning everyone- it's Friday!
Hope you have all enjoyed our tasks this week. The last task for the week is a science one.
Today we are going to do the Sink or Float experiment, to find out what things sink and what things float. But I thought that sounded too easy so I thought we could really become scientists by finding out why things sink and float.
I have attached a worksheet below. The worksheet says to use different fruits and vegetables but you don't have to, you can collect a range of different objects from around your house. E.g, Lego, a spoon, a sponge, a paperclip, etc. However using an orange would make your experiment very interesting, first drop the orange into the water with the peel on, then try again with the peel off! On the worksheet there is a table where you can record your results. Before dropping your items into the water, split the 'Float or Sink' box in half, I would like you to write your predictions in the left half and the results in the right half. The box might be a bit too small so write F for float and S for sink.
Once you have collected all your objects, drop them into a bowl of water, your sink, a bucket out the back garden or even your paddling pool! Is your prediction correct? Once you've done this you will need to think why that specific item floats or sinks and write your ideas in the box, you can research online to help you! Have fun.

Here is a photo of Wyatt playing in the beautiful sunshine with his little sister. They were pretending to be time travellers!
