Over the last two weeks we have been learning all about Mexico. We've had a go at making our own Aztec sunstone, Papel Picado decorations and creating skull masks. We finished up the fortnight with a double page spread in our topic books. We wrote about everything that we have learnt.

Over the next 2 weeks our school will be celebrating the Olympics. Each Class/Year Group has chosen a different country to investigate and explore. We have received a message of support from Baroness Tanni Grey.
Tanni Grey Thompson is one of Britain’s  most successful Paralympians. She was born in Cardiff and growing up she was determined to find out for herself what she could and could not do. After trying a range of sports Tanni realised at age 13 that Wheelchair Racing was her sport of choice and at 17 she became part of the British Wheelchair Racing Squad.

In Tanni's first Paralympics in 1988 she won a bronze medal in the 400m. Her total Paralympic Medal tally is 11 Gold, 4 Silvers and 1 Bronze and added to that 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals at World Championships. Over her career, Tanni broke 30 World Records on the track. Since retiring from sport Tanni has received numerous awards in recognition of her achievements.

This week we've finished our big write - The adventures of a yeti. Mrs Pinches will copy them to bring home for you to see when she's finished marking them. We've done lots of maths, reading and spelling this week. We played balls games with Mrs Squire in PE - it was a lot of fun. During Gino time we talked about how it's ok to be different. On Fun Friday we had a lot of fun making our own volcanoes. We also practised using word to write letters about ourselves.

We've been learning about time this week - digital and analogue. It's been tricky but we are getting there. We've written very detailed plans in English for our 'big write' next week. Mrs Pinches has said we can bring a copy of our work home for you to see next week. We had a lot of fun exploring chemical reactions with bottles of cola and mentos. We observed closely and wrote about what we saw. On Fun Friday this week we made yummy rocky road krispies. Lots and lots of fun.

In maths this week we have been learning how to tally and create bar graphs. We began to research what we know about volcanos and what we want to learn.
In English we've been making predictions. Mrs Pinches showed us the cover of a new book and we had to predict what the story might be about. We discussed our ideas. The book is called The Abominables and we think it's about a very horrible Yeti??? We will find out if we are right next week. We drew our own version of a Yeti and used exciting vocabulary to describe him or her.

Finally on Fun Friday we did another piece of collaborative art. 'Selfies'. We will post a picture when it's complete. Mrs Pinches is going to display it in the corridor. I wonder if people will guess who is who?

Happy half term everyone....................
It's been a fun week. We've been multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. We used jamboard to research the Antartcic and polar bears.  We've been explorers and have written 2 diary entries from our expedition. We've been learning how to use Microsoft Word. That was a lot of fun. Finally our choice foe our fun afternoon was to go outside in the fresh air and play! Great fun had by everyone.

See you in a week's time
