Morning Boys and Girls.

We hope you you are enjoying all of these fun tasks. Don't forgot you can also log into www.activelearnprimary.co.uk for reading books and maths resources.
Rhyming words
Todays words all have the rhyme 'at'. It also reinforces the initial sounds (phonemes) at the beginning of the words.
For the older children I've attached a rhyming chatter box game just for fun.

Following on from yesterdays video, today I would like you to be waterproof detectives. Today challenge is to test materials to see which ones are waterproof. You will need to build a house for your little pig or toy out of lego or duplo. Please remember to  keep this a
fair test. You will only  need to change the material. Challenge your child to make a prediction/guess if they think their toy will stay dry. Use a water spray bottle and spray and same amount of water These are some materials you will find around the home;
plastic bag or cling film, foil, paper or kitchen roll, fabric. You can extend this activity by recording your findings with a tick chart. I've added a sample sheet. You will need to circle the correct answer.

Maths
Game 1: Pull out the kitchen role play toys and recreate the 'Three Little Pigs' house. Learn through play and count with your child the number of food items you put on the plate, how many cups, plates etc as they play. Let them explore and have a fun time playing.
Picture
Game 2: Similar to yesterdays activity, today you will need to bury ten toys in a sand tray/rice/rice etc. Show and count with your child 10 easy to find objects e.g. toy cars, Shopkins, bath toys etc. Bury them. Take it in turns to find the toys.  Use a sieve and a tray each to collect as many toys as they can until you have them all. How many did you each find?  How many do they have altogether?(It should be 10) Which pair to 10 have they made? Repeat the activity, racing to see who gets the most. Can they make all the pairs to 10? You can write the sum for them, or let your child have a try. It doesn't matter if it's just a mark, they know what number they are trying to write. (you can practice number formation at another time)
Game 3: Make 6 and 7.For this task you will need to open Active Learn Primary. Open Addition Facts. Children use and apply their knowledge of addition facts. Children choose dominoes to complete a loop of dominoes so that the combined number of spots on adjoining ends has a given total. There are several dominoes that have the correct number of spots on one side to fit on the domino loop, but not the other side, so children must try to work out the number of spots needed on both ends of the domino. This will reinforce yesterdays game.

Keep safe and well, see you all tomorrow.

    The Coronavirus means that the parents have become the teachers and school is at home. For some children this extension of the school holiday and being at home is confusing. The routines have changed and has brought different challenges and behaviours. Below is a link to the Barnardo's website. Here you will find a range of resources, tools, videos and more for children with special educational needs and disability.
