Morning Boys and Girls. We hope you have had a fun and safe weekend. The snow came yesterday. Did anyone make a snowman? We would love to see a photo of you having fun! If it's too cold to venture out or if the snow has melted away where you are, try making this snow dough at home to recreate the outside inside! All you will need is baking soda and hair conditioner.
Welsh Watch this short clip of DinoLingo to recap the animal names. Challenge your child to name them. You'll be surprised at what they know.
Maths Game 1: Count with Mickey Mouse. Encourage you child to say or sign the numbers. Mickey is driving a train. Pull out your toy vehicles and challenge your child to count how many wheels they have e.g. a bike will have 2, a car 4 etc.
Game 2: This week we will be looking at double numbers. You will need paints and paper. Parents, draw a basic butterfly or ladybird onto paper. Firstly, ask your child to paint one spot onto the left side of your insect E.g. discuss how many spots (1-5) and which half they will paint. Count the spots then tell them to paint the same number in a on the other side. When complete, count the total number of spots saying double two is four, or double five is ten, etc. Encourage children to learn their doubles by heart. Support by: using the painted pictures to create a display on doubling clearly showing double 1 is 2: 1 + 1 = 2, etc. If you wanted you could also fold your paper over and press to double the number of spots. | You can chose to do it with buttons just like this clip if you do not have paints. |

Game 3: Double to 12. You will need 2 dice. Roll a dice and call out the number rolled if necessary. Ask your child to double the number on the dice, showing the double on their fingers, e.g. roll 3, show three fingers on each hand and they call out 6 or you can find the same number on another dice and count together, e.g. 2+2= 4, double 2 equals 4. |
Topic This week we will be looking at animals. Can you name the any animals from your favourite traditional tale or tv show? The animals in the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' were pigs and who can forget the big bad wolf. Please watch and sing-a-long to 'The Farmyard Jamboree'. This story names the animal and it's baby.
Phonics Game 1: Today we are going to listen and identify which animal is making the sound. Listening and identifying sounds is the first stage of phonological development. It develops children auditory memory and develops their vocabulary. Please click on the button 'Welcome to the Zoo' which has been taken from 'Phonics Play'. |
Game 2: Similar to game 1 this activity develops auditory memory. Click on the button 'Sound Starter' to open the game. Here you will need to click on a bubble at random to hear different sound effects. Ask your child to name the same sound. Challenge your child to attempt to imitate the sound with their voices. You can extend this challenge by playing two sounds one after the other. Can they remember the sounds in order? |
Parents keep up the good work. You are doing an amazing job! Please check this page everyday for fun games and activities to help you with your home learning.
Keep safe and well.
