We will be celebrating Children in Need on Friday by wearing something spotty, just like Pudsey, and having a little party in our class...we will also be celebrating two birthday's, so there'll be cakes and candles as well!! Enjoy your own spotty celebrations!!
We have been taking our basged siopa to our in class 'shop' and buying lovely things for tea. Join in the song...don't forget you can add your own favourite treats to the list!!
Our youngest children have been enjoying the story about Brown Bear. They love the song, so here it is for you to enjoy at home...got to say though, Povey's singing is so much better!!
So far this term we have worked on initial sound letters: s, a, t, n, i, p, c and k. Here are some ideas for simple games you can play at home:
I spy something starting with...to begin with, sound out the letter rather than give the letter name. Give a small selection of items to choose from, or, things from a specific place in the house (bedroom, kitchen etc)
Go Fish....using pictures from catalogues, cards, magazines...attach a paperclip. Make a fishing rod with magnet attached and fish for 's' , 'c' etc
I Spy sheets....fashion your own sheet...'hide' the letter amongst others...make it easy with only a few letters to begin with or really hard with hundreds!!
Look for letters when you're out an about or in your home environment...who can find letter 'p' at Lidl or Tesco? Who can see letter 'a' on the letter the postie just deliver?
Bubble pop game....go made with bubbles....how many bubbles can you pop while saying the t t t t t/ i i i i i sound

We are still working on measure this week. We are going to draw around our friends and decide who is the tallest, then we will order by height and then we will measure using non-standard units (hand spans, cubes, sticks). Have a go at home!!!
