Morning Boys and Girls,

It's the last week before we break up for Easter. We are really proud how hard you have been working. We had lots of fun learning last week. This week is no different. It's jam packed with lots of fun activities.
This week we will be learning:

Maths 
  • We will be learning about money and coins through play
  • We will be learning to make amounts of money
  • We will be learning the equivalent amounts  of coins
  • We will be counting counts in 2's, 5's and 10's using coins.
Below are some songs we will be listening to;
Literacy
  • This week we will continue to look at these books through Group Reading. As it's almost Easter, our books this week are focused around eggs. Our youngest children are exploring 'We're going on an EGG HUNT' story, while the older children are discussing the story 'Egg Fun'.
Phonics 
  • The sound of the week is 'Ll'
  • We shall be writing/mark marking
  • We are recapping on our tricky words 
  • Bingo games using pictures and words
  • listening sound games
RE
We will be learning about the Easter story. We will be be celebrating by going on an egg hunt, making Easter crafts and making chocolate nests.
Topic
This week we are will be exploring which materials 'Float or Sink'.

I will be posting some Easter fun ideas on Friday. Please call back on Friday to gather some ideas for the Easter break.

Afternoon Boys and Girls,

This week we have have gotten off to a flying start and have been working super hard. 
What we will be learning this week:

Maths
  • Naming, matching and sorting colour
  • Singing a range of pattern songs, including number pattern songs
  • Recognise and continue a repeating pattern using objects, sounds, actions or colour
  • Generate sequences of numbers
  • Count in a range of objects in 2's
  • Begin to recognise odd and even numbers

Literacy
  • This week we will continue to look at these books through Group Reading. Our youngest children are exploring 'The Gingerbread Man' story sack, while the older children are discussing the story 'Big Paws'. ​
Phonics 
  • The sound of the week is 'Uu'
  • We shall be writing/mark marking
  • We are recapping on our tricky words 
  • We will recap the reading and spelling set 1 and 2. These words are made up of the first sounds that we are learning.
Set 1:
s, a, t, p
at, a, sat, pat, tap, sap, as
Set 2:
i – it, is, sit, pit, tip
n – an, in, nip, pan, nap
m – am, man, mat, map, Tim
d – dad, and, sad, dim, Sid

Topic
We are revisiting materials. This week we will be experimenting and predicting if a material is waterproof.. We will still have our sensory tuff spot out with different textures for the children to explore.

PE
Today we had lots of fun with the balls outside for PE. Can we please remind you to send PE kit in every Tuesday. Thank you.

We hope you have all had a lovely and safe weekend. Are you ready for another fun packed week of learning?

  • Number recognition 0-5/0-10/ 0-20 and beyond; we will be experiencing numbers through multi sensory learning
  • Singing a range of number songs and rhymes
  • Introduce/recap on number pairs to 10
  • Read simple number sentences that use + and = signs
  • subitise to 10
Literacy
  • This week we will be looking at these books through Group Reading. Our youngest children are exploring 'The Gingerbread Man' story sack, while the older children are discussing the story 'Big Paws'. ​

World Book Day 2021

Morning Boys and Girls. 
Today is World Book Day. World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading. Their mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. If you would like to find out more you can click on the 'world Book Day' button. 
World Book Day
To celebrate the day, we will be:
  • sharing the story ' The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Our Math focus will be the days of the week and making connections  to what he did on each day. We shall also be counting and matching sets of fruit 1-5.

  • we are continuing  to share the stories 'Feed The Birds' and 'The Three Little Pigs'. In our group reading.
  • we will have time in our library area. Here we have a mix of fiction/non fiction books in English and Welsh We call this time ERIC. This stands for 'everyone read in class'. Here the children can choose their favourite books to look through. 
  • we will be sharing the story 'Duck and the Balloon' using Bug club. We allocated this story to your children so you can share at home. You can do this by login into www.activelearnprimary.co.uk.   You will need your child's login details.

  • we will also be creative and decorate a book mark.
  • we will be dressing up as different story characters. 
  • we will be guessing who the masked reader is. Try and guess a home?

St David's Day

Bora da pawb!

Sut wyt ti heddiw? Today is St David's Day. Today we will be celebrating by exploring and learning about the of the days traditions. 

We will celebrate by
  • wear red or traditional dress
  • learn a folk dance
  • make a craft daffodil
  • make Welsh cakes, yummy!!
  • Listen to the story of St David
  • sing know welsh songs
