Morning Boys and Girls,

Friday is here again. I hope you have had a fun week learning at home. Below is your last day of fun packed activities for the week.
Phonics
Parents this is a fun guide using Alphablocks from the CBeebies.
Alphablocks guide to phonics
Todays tasks are focusing on your child's name.
Game 1: You will need some cars or toy vehicles and a piece of paper to make some parking bays. Parents write each letter of your child's name in each car space. Then read and point to your child' name. Challenge your child to match the letters starting from left to right. For my littles ones, parents you can show them.
Picture
Game 2: For this task, parents choose four names of your family  and write them on a large piece of paper e.g. mum, dad, nan, a sibling, pets name and of course, your child's name. You could do this task outdoors in chalk on the path if you have run out of paper. Challenge you child to find, read and circle their name.
Picture
Game 3: Similar to the above games Write your child's name on a write board or paper. Then with magnetic/wooden/paper letters challenge your child to put the letters in the correct place. Next ask your child to write their name.

Topic
At the end of yesterdays story 'Animal Babies' it suggests trying to make a bird box. Below I've found a lovely bird feeder instead for you to make together. Then place it somewhere, where you and your chid can easily watch the birds fly back and forth. How many different birds come to feed ?

Maths
Games 1: Instead of recreating '10 Green Bottles', make a collection of containers that are all the same type. It's time to look through your recycling bag! e.g. water bottles, soft drink cans, milk bottles etc. Adapt the song to fit the containers you have collected. Choose a number to start that suits your child. e.g. 5 coke cans resting on the ground. Count the containers with your child as you sing together. Encourage your child to touch as they count.

Picture
Game 2: This is a fun game of learning through play. You will need jungle or farm animals. Today I would like you to test your children to see how much they have learned through the week. Gather 1 toy. Say 'if I doubled this toy how many will I have?' Do they same for two, three toys etc. If they can't answer or guess wrongly don't worry. e.g. say "I have one elephant." Double 1 is 2. Show one elephant and then gather another elephant. Say "1+1=2".

Game 3: Mirror Doubles: This is a lovely game. All you will need is a small mirror, a handful of objects, pen and paper/whiteboard and pen. I've added a link which describes step by step how to play. You can write/record for your child if you need to. Just like the other activities this week, you can start with one object; 1+1=2 so double 1 equals 2.

Morning Boys and Girls.

Here's today's activities. Please do what you can. We would love to see you learning, however it may look. If you would like to share you can send photo's/video's to our email accounts.
Maths
Game 1: Please take part in this action song. You will need bare hands and feet! Do you know any other finger action songs?
Game 2: For todays doubling activity you will need to make a doubling machine. Please look at the images for ideas. Previously I've made the shoe box machine. It was easy to make. I stuck two paper cups with the bottom cut out onto the box. I drew a plus sign like the image adjacent. You could cotton balls, ping pong balls or small toys. First place 1 in the left and then 1 in the right. Your children can count the total. Parents remember to use the word 'double' just the activities from the beginning of the week.
Game 3: Play double my claps. This will test your child's listening skills and counting skills. Parents clap once. Your child will need  to clap twice.  You will need to practice and model this to your child. To make it easier you can write your double sum on paper for your child to see. You will then need to repeat. Parents clap twice. Now your child will need to clap four times. Parents you can reinforce the language by saying " double 2 is 4 and so on. You can tell them the answer as long as you are modelling the language. The more you play the better they will get.

Please login to 'Active learn' where I have allocated a book called 'Animal Babies'. Please ask your child to name/sign the animal. Can they remeber what the mum and their  baby is called?
Picture
Fine Motor
Most baby mammals need milk from their mothers. Today I thought it would be fun for you recreate milking a cow!
You will need some plastic gloves. water or diluted milk., a needle or pin to make a hole, a bowl and a piece of string. Watch the clip and have fun milking the cow.
Phonics
For each of the below activities you will need you will need a white wax crayon, watered down paint, a paint brush,  white card/paper.
Game 1: Crayon resist paint. Parents I would like you to draw a simple picture e.g.cat/dog/pig on a white piece of paper/card using a white crayon. Then using any coloured watered down paint, paint over the letters. This will magically make them appear when painting the paper. Parents you can say what the picture is for your child and then ask your child to repeat/sign if they can.

Game 2: Crayon resist paint. Parents I would like you to write on a white piece of paper/card the first set of letters that we have been learning (phoneme) 's,a,t,n,i,p'. Then using any colour watered down paint, paint over the letters. This will magically make them appear when painting the paper. Can your child say the sound of the letter? If not, parents you can say the sound for your child and then ask your child to repeat if they can.
Picture
Game 3: Copy the process as above but instead of writing a single letter (phoneme). Practice either the  list tricky words:
I, the, to, go, no, he, she, we
be, me, my, they, all, her, was

or the first phonetically decodable words
at, a, sat, sap, pat, tap, sap, as
it, is, sit, pit, tip
an, in, nip, pan, nap

Morning Boys and Girls.

Look at the amazing work Isaac has shared this week!

Here's your activities for today!
Maths
Game 1:
Today I would like you to play  together with your child, with any animal toys that you have. Challenge your child to name, find the same if you have more than one and count small groups e.g. say "I can see two dogs, one....two. Pointing and touching as you count. Encourage your child to copy. This task is learning through play.
'Game 2: Still thinking about doubles, this is a problem solving game. You will need pairs of socks.
If I have 1 person have many socks will I need. If I have two people, how many socks will you need now etc. You will need to do this task practically with mums, dads and siblings. Alternately you could use large teddy bears. You will need to count together and use the word 'doubles' e.g. "I will need one sock, one for my left foot, now I need to get another for my right foot. Now I have 2.  So I have 1+1=2, double 1 equals 2". Repeat for 2 people and so on.
Picture
Game 3: Following on from yesterdays activity with dominos. Today we will be making our own double dominos. Challenge your child to create some double numbers by doing some squishing and painting. You will need: The attached  sheet or you can make your own., some cotton buds (great for fine motor strengthening and control) and paint. Simply add some dots of paint to the left side of the paper, fold the paper along the line and squish it together. Start by painting one dot, then two, three and so on. Then fold the sheet over, squish and see what the double number  is. Do they already know before the sheet is opened?

Rhyming words
Game 1: Todays words all have the rhyme 'an'. It also reinforces the initial sounds (phonemes) at the beginning of the words. Please watch and re-watch pausing to to let your child complete the rhyming sentence.
Game 2: For todays challenge I would like you to be word detectives and see how many words you can make with the word ending 'an'. I'll do the first one for you...'p' and 'an' makes pan. Parents can you write the 'an' five times on a board or on a piece of paper. Then with letter tiles, magnetic letters etc ask your child to put a new sound at the start of the word to make a new rhyming CVC word. It doesn't matter if the words are nonsense words. Please use sounds that they know e.g. s,t,n,p, etc. Ask your child to read the word that they have made. Remember they are only changing the initial letter. You can help them to blend the word together. Below I've added a Jolly Phonics sound ruler to guide you to the next sounds.

Morning Boys and Girls.

It's another day of fun activities. Please pick a task that suits your child. The activities are progressive, so game 1 is the simplest and game 3 is the hardest.

Maths
Game 1:
Listen and sing-a-long to the song '1,2, Buckle My Shoe'. You can extend this song by finding a pair of shoes. Make connections to your child's feet. One on the left and one on the right. Make collections of other things we wear in two's. e.g. gloves. Count/sign how many you have altogether?
Game 2: This week we are learning about doubles.  Watch Number Blocks, 'Double Trouble'. For this task you will need 10 building blocks. Parents use building blocks to build a tower of 1. Ask you child to build a tower of 1.  Show your child they are the same amount but when they are together you have doubled them. The number of blocks consisting of two equal, identical, blocks. Repeat for number 2, 3,4 and 5. Please record and model writing the sum for your child e.g. 2+2=4, double 2 equals 4.

Double Trouble
Game 3: You will need a set of dominoes for this task. Ask you child to look at a set of dominoes and try to find all the doubles. Explain, just like the above activity that both sides of the domino needs to be the same. Then record as 1 + 1 = 2, 2 + 2 = 4… 6 + 6 = 12.  Place the dominos in number order e.g. 2,4,6 etc. Can they notice a pattern/make links to the numbers of the dominos? Below I've added a double dominos sheet to reinforce the activity.

Phonics
Parents this activity is for you to help your children produce sounds correctly when learning how to read and spell.

Making Sounds into words
Game 1: Please sing-a-long and make these animal noises in his lovely 'Animal Sound Fun' song. Copy the noises as you sing. Can you make a an action to accompany the animals?
Game 2: For this task you will need some magnetic/plastic letters and a tray/bag to freeze. This is letter rescue. Use your hands or a spray bottle with water to reveal which letters are hiding. Ask your child to name the sound of the letter. Last week we looked at sounds 's,a,t,n'. This week lets add the letters 'i,p'. To extend this task lets try and make the words;
Set 1: at, a, sat, pat, tap, sap, as
Set 2:it, is, sit, pit, tip
Set 3:an, in, nip, pan, nap

Game 3: This activity is a listening game. Listen to the sound and match to the correct letter.

Morning Boys and Girls.

We hope you have had a fun and safe weekend. The snow came yesterday. Did anyone make a snowman? We would love to see a photo of you having fun! If it's too cold to venture out or if the snow has melted away where you are, try making this snow dough at home to recreate the outside inside! All you will need is baking soda and hair conditioner.
Welsh
Watch this short clip of DinoLingo to recap the animal names. Challenge your child to name them. You'll be surprised at what they know.
Maths
Game 1: Count  with Mickey Mouse. Encourage you child to say or sign the numbers. Mickey is driving a train. Pull out your toy vehicles and challenge your child to count how many wheels they have e.g. a bike will have 2, a car 4 etc.

Game 2: This week we will be looking at double numbers.  You will need paints and paper. Parents, draw a basic butterfly or ladybird onto paper. Firstly, ask your child to paint one spot onto the left side of your insect  E.g. discuss how many spots (1-5) and which half they will paint.   Count the spots then tell them to paint the same number in a  on the other side.  When complete, count the total number of spots saying double two is four, or double five is ten, etc. Encourage children to learn their doubles by heart. Support by: using the painted pictures to create a display on doubling clearly showing double 1 is 2: 1 + 1 = 2, etc. If you wanted you could also fold your paper over and press to double the number of spots.
You can chose to do it with buttons just like this clip if you do not have paints.

Game 3: Double to 12. You will need 2 dice. Roll a dice and call out the number rolled if necessary. Ask your child to double the number on the dice, showing the double on their fingers, e.g. roll 3, show three fingers on each hand and they call out 6 or you can find the same number on another dice and count together, e.g. 2+2= 4, double 2 equals 4.

This week we will be looking at animals. Can you name the any animals from your favourite traditional tale or tv show? The animals in the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' were pigs and who can forget the big bad wolf. Please watch and sing-a-long to 'The Farmyard Jamboree'. This story names the animal and it's baby.
Phonics
Game 1: Today we are going to listen and identify which animal is making the sound. Listening and identifying sounds is the first stage of phonological development. It develops children auditory memory and develops their vocabulary. Please click on the button 'Welcome to the Zoo' which has been taken from 'Phonics Play'.
Welcome To The Zoo
Game 2: Similar to game 1 this activity develops auditory memory. Click on the button 'Sound Starter' to open the game. Here you will need to click on a bubble at random to hear different sound effects. Ask your child to name the same sound. Challenge your child to attempt to imitate the sound with their voices. You can extend this challenge by playing two sounds one after the other. Can they remember the sounds in order?
Sound Starter
Game 3:  Click on the Button 'Fishy Phonics'. Read the CVC word in the cloud and hook the matching picture. Parents please help your child to sound out the word.
Fishy Phonics
Parents keep up the good work. You are doing an amazing job! Please check this page everyday for fun games and activities to help you with your home learning.

Morning Boys and Girls.

You have all been working so hard either by using Active Learn, interacting with family and playing home games or by doing lots of life skill task and of course by completing some on the tasks set on this web page.
Literacy
Today I would like you to play 'I Spy'. Please pick a game from below.

Game 1: Make a sensory 'I Spy' bottle. This clip will suit the girls out there. You can create the same for boys by using left over cracker toys and bits and bobs that are on the bottom of the kitchen drawers.
Game 2: Can you find and name the objects in the picture?
Game 3: Open the 'I Spy' button below. Can you find an object beginning with 's,a,t,p,i,n'? Can you find more objects around the home that start with those sounds. To extend this activity further can you list the objects that you find. How many can you find beginning with 's', 'a' etc.
I Spy
Fine Motor

Drawing doesn't always have to be done sitting at a table or by using your fingers and hands. Here are a few fun ways to get both the sides of the of the brain working. Parents try it too. It's not easy making your less dominate side work. Why not try it to music. Music motivates your body to move in different ways depending on the track!

Maths
Game 1: Sing the song'1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive'. Then either in a bowl of water, in the sink or bath. Use your child's toys to recreate the song. If you have toy fish, all the better.
Underwater counting
Game 2: Paint the beans so that one side is red and the other side is gold. These are ʻmagic beansʼ. Give the ten magic beans to a child. They shake them in their hands and then drop them on to the table. How many are gold and how many are red? Write an addition on a piece of card to match the number sentence they have made, e.g. 8 + 2 = 10 . Give the beans to another child and repeat. Continue, asking children to tell you when they think you have made all the ways of making 10. Put all the additions cards in order so that children can see if any are missing. Ask a child to arrange the beans to make any missing additions.
Game 3: You will need a coat hanger and 10/20 pegs. Show ten pegs on a coat hanger with the same colour pegs together. Partition them into nine pegs and one peg. Turn the coat hanger round to show that 9 and 1 makes 10 and so does 1 and 9. Write on the whiteboard, side by side: 9 + 1 = 10 and 1 + 9 =10 . Repeat for 8 and 2, 7 and 3, 6 and 4, then 5 and 5. Ask your child to close their eyes while you hide the last two pegs (as children see them) with a cloth.  Ask your child to open their eyes. Show me ten fingers. Now show me how many pegs you can see on the coat hanger. How many fingers are folded down? That's how many are hiding! Write on the whiteboard: 8 + ☐ = 10, then write 2 in the box. Ask your child to close their eyes again whilst you hide five pegs. Open your eyes. Show me, on your fingers, how many pegs you think are hiding. Write on the whiteboard: 5 + ☐ = 10. Remove the cloth. Were they right? Repeat, hiding other numbers of pegs up to ten, including ten. Each time, write an empty box for your child to complete. When you hide all ten pegs, write: 0 + ☐ = 10. I hid all of them! I've added a worksheet to promt you.

Keep safe and well.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Morning Boys and Girls,

It's lovely to hear that a lot of you are enjoying the activities at home. Remember they are here to guide you. Do what you can and adapt to suit your own resources and child's needs. If you need any help please email or ask during your keeping in touch call.
Picture
Game 1: Who doesn't like a bit of messy play? Make a bowl of jelly. Hide some numbers inside. Use kitchen tools or little fingers to pull out a number. Ask your child to say/sign or parents say the number. You can use numbers to 10 or to 20 if some of your older children want to join in.

Game 2: Just like yesterdays task we are going to partition a set of ten objects into two sets. Today we are going to use our fingers. Ask your child to hold up both hands and count their fingers. How many fingers have you got? Then ask children to fold down some of their fingers. First start with 1 then 2 and so on. Support your child by writing the number sentence(the sum) for them. Your child could use magnetic numbers or pre made numbers to arrange the sum. e.g. 7 + 3 = 10. Repeat the process. Have we got all the bonds to ten? Check. What about ten and zero?  You can simplify this task by using gloves insteed of fingers. It may be easier for your child to count.

Game 3: For this task you will need to open Active Learn Primary. Open Number Bonds Tool. This teaching tool is used to show bonds for all numbers up to 20. Use the monster characters to demonstrate additions. You can set the number of monsters that you want to use e.g. 5,6,7 10 etc. Drag the monsters from the left and right side to make the sum. See how many ways can you make your chosen number.

Literacy
Tricky words: Write and stick some tricky words onto toy cars. Make them a car park with the matching word. Can your child match and say the tricky word. The next set of words are; we, be, me, she, he, my, they, was, her, all. Please watch the YouTube clip below.

Topic
Crafts are a great why to show to let your artistic flare shine through. It's a fun why to engage your child while providing an opportunity for developing fine motor skills. Please watch the clip on how to make a paper plate pig.
Active Challenge
The weather hasn't been great this week so here's an activity that you can challenge your child can take part with indoors. Why not make it into a competition with their sibling by using a stopwatch to see who can stand on one leg for the longest.
Keep Safe and well.

Following on from yesterdays video, today I would like you to be waterproof detectives. Today challenge is to test materials to see which ones are waterproof. You will need to build a house for your little pig or toy out of lego or duplo. Please remember to  keep this a
fair test. You will only  need to change the material. Challenge your child to make a prediction/guess if they think their toy will stay dry. Use a water spray bottle and spray and same amount of water These are some materials you will find around the home;
plastic bag or cling film, foil, paper or kitchen roll, fabric. You can extend this activity by recording your findings with a tick chart. I've added a sample sheet. You will need to circle the correct answer.

Maths
Game 1: Pull out the kitchen role play toys and recreate the 'Three Little Pigs' house. Learn through play and count with your child the number of food items you put on the plate, how many cups, plates etc as they play. Let them explore and have a fun time playing.
Picture
Game 2: Similar to yesterdays activity, today you will need to bury ten toys in a sand tray/rice/rice etc. Show and count with your child 10 easy to find objects e.g. toy cars, Shopkins, bath toys etc. Bury them. Take it in turns to find the toys.  Use a sieve and a tray each to collect as many toys as they can until you have them all. How many did you each find?  How many do they have altogether?(It should be 10) Which pair to 10 have they made? Repeat the activity, racing to see who gets the most. Can they make all the pairs to 10? You can write the sum for them, or let your child have a try. It doesn't matter if it's just a mark, they know what number they are trying to write. (you can practice number formation at another time)
Game 3: Make 6 and 7.For this task you will need to open Active Learn Primary. Open Addition Facts. Children use and apply their knowledge of addition facts. Children choose dominoes to complete a loop of dominoes so that the combined number of spots on adjoining ends has a given total. There are several dominoes that have the correct number of spots on one side to fit on the domino loop, but not the other side, so children must try to work out the number of spots needed on both ends of the domino. This will reinforce yesterdays game.

Morning Boys and Girls.

Welcome back to another fun packed day of learning. Although there are new tasks on this page everyday. You will need to practice the activities more than once so please scroll back through the pages to repeat the activities, especially the literacy and numeracy tasks.
Literacy
Please sing along to the song of 'The Three Little Pigs'.
Rhyme time
Game 1: Listen to the 'Big Pig Song'. Singalong to the rhyming words.
Game 2: For todays challenge I would like you to be word detectives and see how many words you can make with the word ending 'ig'. I'll do the first one for you...'p' and 'ig' makes pig. Parents can you write the 'ig' five times on a board or on a piece of paper. Then with letter tiles, magnetic letters etc ask your child to put a new sound at the start of the word to make a new rhyming CVC word. It doesn't matter if the words are nonsense words. Please use sounds that they know e.g. s,t,p,n, etc. Ask your child to read the word that they have made. Remember they are only changing the initial letter. You can help them to blend the word together.

You have been finding different materials from around your house and naming them. Also you have been describing how they feel. This week we are going to investigate what materials are waterproof. Please watch the short BBC clip. Tomorrow there will be activities linked to this clip.
Maths
Game 1: You will need play dough for this task.
Sing 5 fat sausages using your fingers to show the number. Make 'sausages' from dough so that you can enact the song as you go along. If you have number cards at home, you can show these to your child as well so they can make connections.

Game 2: Today we are going to begin to partition sets of ten objects and learn the number pairs to 10. Use a toy bus/car/train/vehicle with ten toy passengers. First ask your child to count all the toy passengers. Then put some on the bus and count the whole group again. Then count the group left at the bus stop and count the whole group again to check there is always 10. Ask children to say the matching number sentence aloud, e.g. five plus five equals ten. Parents please write the appropriate number sentence to show how many are on the bus and how many are at the bus stop, e.g. 2 + 8 = 10. Here you are modelling the sum for them. Today show the number on the vehicle and the number at the bus stop.

Morning Boys and Girls, We hope you had a safe and fun week.

Below you'll find today's activities. The activities that are set on this web page is to give you ideas. Please pick the ones that suit your child. You don't have to do them all. Life skills and learning through play are just as important. You can link numeracy and literacy skills through your day. e.g. going on walks, making shopping lists, gardening, playing  together etc. Please let me know if you you need anything or individual ideas for learning.
Fine Motor
I've added a YouTube clip that focuses of fine motor skills, finger and hand manipulation/co-ordination using dough. We do something very similar in class using dough, a disco ball and pop music. Once you have done some of these actions, try to do them to the beat of a favourite pop song.
Literacy
Game 1: Mirror play: This activity is for the little ones in the class. Look into a rectangle shaped mirror with your child. Place your child at the side of you. This is so your child can be clearly see you and your lip movements. Play making faces and copying movements of the lips and tongue.  Introduce sound making in the mirror e.g. d,d,d, mmmm, shhhh. If there is a sound they particularly like making, start with that or you can start with experimenting with animal noises. E.g. roar like a dinosaur, snort like a pig etc.

Game 2: Play the Twirlywoos Spot the difference game below. Spot the difference is a fun game that helps your child to concentrate, think, and learn to notice detail in a picture.

Maths
Game 1: Join in with Ferne and Rory count to 10. Throughout your day count objects that you see. E.g. cars, birds in the garden, sausages on your plate etc.

Game 2:  Open 'Active learn Primary' Here I have allocated a game called  'Counting On and Back'. Count on and back in 1s to 20. This activity enables children to practice counting on and back from any number, a prerequisite for adding/subtracting. Children are given several short number sequences (not beginning at 1) and asked to choose the next number in the sequence. They must work together to drag and drop numbers from two boxes at the bottom of the screen. Each screen presents a mixture of sequences that count forwards and sequences that count backwards, so children will first need to determine whether they need to count on or back.
Game 3: Open 'Active Learn Primary' and open the 'number tool square'. Begin to locate 2-digit numbers on a 100-square. Challenge your child to find a 2 digit number. Eg 22,34,56 etc. Once you are happy that they can find number 1-20/1-30/1-40 etc. Open 'That Number Square'. You will need to make a grid on paper like as is shown in the video. Tell your child that all the numbers have fallen off the number square and they are in a heap on the floor. All that is left is a blank grid! Can they put the numbers back in the correct place? You will need to simplify this task by starting at 1-10/ then extending to 1-20/ 1-30 etc. Parents choose a number and together work out where it should go. Your child can either write or you can scribe for them.

We hope you you enjoy todays tasks.

Keep safe and well,
