We have been learning about the USA. We have researched an American landmark at home. We celebrated Independence Day on Monday by making hot dogs and sequencing the instructions and painting firework pictures in our creative area.

Tanni Grey Thompson is one of  Britain's most successful Paralympians. She was born in Cardiff and growing up she was determined to find out for herself what she could and could not do. After trying a range of sports Tanni realised at age 13 that Wheelchair Racing was her sport of choice and at 17 she became part of the British Wheelchair Racing Squad.

In Tanni’s first Paralympics in 1988 she won a Bronze medal in the 400m. Her total Paralympic Medal tally is 11 Gold, 4 Silvers and 1 Bronze and added to that 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals at World Championships. Over her career, Tanni broke 30 world records on the track. Since retiring from sport Tanni has received numerous awards in recognition of her achievements.
Over the next 2 weeks our school will be celebrating the Olympics. Each Class/Year Group has chosen a different country to investigate and explore. We have received a message of support from Baroness Tanni Grey.

We've been having fun on Friday afternoons! Last week, we made milkshakes and this week, we've had hot chocolate and listened to a story. We do enjoy a treat in Class 2, although to balance things out, we have been learning about healthy eating in our topic work this week!

Have a lovely weekend.

Today in school we tried different fruits. We tried pomegranate, apricot, mango, pineapple, peaches and plums. Some children liked all of the fruits. Everyone liked something, even if they didn't think they would.

We planned to go on the climbing frame but we couldn't because it rained all day today! So we watched a film instead. Most people voted for Big Hero 6. We had milk and biscuits while we watched it.
