Congratulations to all our budding artists for the amazing Greek vases produced this week.
We managed to squeeze our sports day in between showers!
Team Bolt were the runaway winners! Special mention to Jayden and Skyla for their super fast time in a lap around the school.
Thank you Tanni for the message of support for our school
So starting next week for two weeks Classes 10 and 11 will be learning all about the the history of the Olympics and in particular, the country of Greece!
We have lots of lovely activities planned as well as our version of Sports Day on the 6th July. We have 4 teams- Bolt, Turbo, Scorpions and Devils and are completing a range of events. We will also be setting a home task- it will becoming home with the children this Friday! Please try to support your child with this as have lots of fun doing it! Funday Fridays are going down well with Class 10! Last week we planned some artwork and played tennis. This week we are going to complete our melted wax artwork. Keep your eyes peeled for the finished pieces. ![]() We are coming to the end of our Romans topic next week and will soon be starting to work on our whole school Olympics theme. Class 10 and 11 will be exploring the country of Greece. We have also set up our class Sports Day teams with the creative names- Turbo, Bolt, Scorpions and Devils. This will be taking place on Tuesday 6th July weather permitting of course. Today was our first Funday Friday. By a massive majority, the children chose to bring in their fidget toys to play with. Congratulations to Joshua for getting the merit award. He has offered sensible and pertinent contributions all week in class. Well done Josh!
Also lucky Jacob, Jayden and Theo for winning this week's raffles. They will be having tea and toast and hot chocolate and cookies next week. This week we tested out the catapults we made recently. We were investigating which missile would travel the furthest when we were trying to destroy the Roman Forts! We tried Maltesers, bonbons and Pinball. We were shocked when Maltesers won! Congratulations to Harvey for winning the merit award last week and to Spencer, Anna and Grace for winning the raffle.
They enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies on Monday morning! So this week has been super busy again! We have been writing a letter to Perilus' Dad to persuade him to let him become a charioteer, we have studied how to write effective instructions and begun reading our new class reader 'Code Name Bananas' by David Walliams.
In Maths we have learned about factors, multiples and prime numbers. We have also been lucky to have a laptop each this week so have been competing against our peers in J2Blast on Hwb- helping us to learn our Times tables. In our topic work, we have been learning about the Roman Army Uniform and how difficult it must have been to fight in all of that! We are looking forward to trying out our catapults next week to see how far our missiles will travel. BIG WELL DONE to Ashley Williams for his merit award this week for showing a great attitude to his learning! Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend! This week we made catapults using lollypop sticks and elastic bands and tested them out. Next week we are going to investigate what missiles travel the furthest to destroy a
Roman Fort. |
